(New York, NY, Friday, August 13, 2021) – The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY) congratulates Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul on becoming New York State’s 57th Governor and New York State’s first female Governor. We also recognize Andrea Stewart-Cousins as the first female and first African-American Senate Majority Leader. It is a historic moment for New York and for women. For the first time, New York will have female leaders in top positions in government and the judiciary as they join Attorney General Letitia James and Chief Judge Janet DiFiore. It is indeed a significant achievement for our State and for women. These accomplished women make us all proud and will be role models for so many who will follow them. The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY) recognizes the serious allegations that led to the Governor’s resignation and stand by our commitment to the fair and equal treatment of women in the workplace.
WBASNY wishes incoming Governor Hochul and her new administration the very best. We look forward to working with them to promote WBASNY’s mission.
