(New York, NY, Wednesday, June 29, 2022) – The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (“WBASNY”) applauds Governor Kathy Hochul for signing A.7933-C/S.6901-B (Gonzalez-Rojas/Myrie) and A.9418-A/S.8884-A (Cruz/Hoylman). These laws will allow the state to financially support organizations that aid New Yorkers who are transgender and gender non-conforming and will allow a person running for party positions to select a non-binary gender “X”. This important legislation promotes equality and equity for New York’s LGBTQ+ community, at a time where several other states have undertaken a broad assault on these rights. WBASNY’s mission includes the fair and equal administration of justice, and WBASNY is grateful that New York State is taking concrete actions to ensure equality for all people.
