New York, NY, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 – The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY) congratulates Immediate Past President, Marea Wachsman, Esq., on receiving the esteemed 2025 Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Vanguard Award, which will be presented on October 22, 2025, by the Trial Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association, during a virtual ceremony and CLE program. This award recognizes “a Trial Attorney who has made a significant impact in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the legal profession,” and honors Justice Ginsburg’s legacy as a fearless and inspiring advocate for justice and for “gender equality, civil rights, and the protection of marginalized communities, using her position to break down barriers and pave the way for future legal professionals.”
Marea L. Wachsman, Esq., is a founding member and partner of Schreier & Wachsman, LLP, in New York, New York, and her law practice focuses on medical malpractice, wrongful death, utility, construction, and other negligence matters. She regularly represents clients on a pro bono basis. In addition to serving as WBASNY President for 2024-2025, Marea has also served as a WBASNY Officer and was Co-Chair of the Legislation Committee for five years. She worked on legislative issues and statewide programs supporting a more equitable legal community. Marea serves on the Board of Directors for the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association and is the President of the Women’s Trial Lawyers Caucus. She is also a member of the Board of Directors and a past Officer of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. She earned her juris doctorate from New York Law School.
